Nespresso Creatista vs Plus vs Uno

Nespresso is the only single serve system that delivers Italian espresso with high quality velvety frothed milk. Breville manufactures the Nespresso Creatista, Creatista Uno and Nespresso Creatista Plus machines and they deliver the very best Nespresso pod system beverages and experience so far.

The Creatista, the Uno and the Creatista Plus share a lot of the basics. All are manufactured by Breville, they all use the Nespresso pods and have 19 bar pressure pump. All three-produce similar quality espresso. The differences are mainly in amount of levels you can adjust settings, the milk handling and small differences in specifications and controls. All three are excellent for espresso crema, flavor, aroma and texture. So, to help you choose, our Creatista reviews we will focus on the differences between the three models.

Nespresso Creatista

All three Nespresso Creatista models have the same 19 bar pump, all three heat up quickly and they all use the Nespresso capsule coffee systems. All three models also share a lot of the same design and controls.

The Nespresso Creatista and Creatista Plus have a very different milk handling system than the Uno. The Creatista and Plus have a Steam Wand that will automatically steam and froth milk. The Uno doesn’t do that automatically. As a result, both the Creatista and Plus have built-in programs for 8 beverage selections. These are Ristretto, Espresso & Lungo, Cappuccino, Cafè Latte, Latte Macchiato, Flat White and milk froth. All of these are excellent.

The Uno will brew Ristretto, Espresso and Lungo but making Cappuccino, Cafè Latte, Latte Macchiato, Flat White and milk froth are all manual processes.

All Breville Nespresso Creatista model numbers start with BNE600. The main difference in the model numbers after that is the colors.

Nespresso Creatista Plus

The Breville Nespresso Creatista Plus has the same 19 bar pump, Nespresso pod system and other espreso features.

The Plus shares the excellent milk steam wand with the Creatista, so it also brews Ristretto, Espresso & Lungo, Cappuccino, Cafè Latte, Latte Macchiato, Flat White and milk froth with the touch of a button. All of these are excellent in the Plus as well. All Nespresso Creatista Plus model numbers start with BNE800 then vary based on the machine color.

Nespresso Creatista vs Plus

The Nespresso Creatista has adjustable coffee volume, four different milk texture levels and five milk temperature settings. This is the main difference in the Nespresso Creatista vs Plus. Both have removable drip tray.

The Creatista has a 50-ounce Water tank and the Plus has a 60-ounce tank. The Plus has some nice styling differences. It is the most attractive.

The Plus is a little larger and has more settings to customize your drinks. It has 8 milk foam texture levels and 11 different milk temperature settings. That is a lot of customization. I am not sure most people will be able to see much of a difference but if you want the most flexible machine, then it is the Plus.

Breville Nespresso Creatista Uno

The Breville-Nespresso Creatista Uno single serve espresso machine is the cheapest, smallest, lightest and simplest of the Creatista models.

This is really a machine for someone making a few espresso’s a day. It wouldn’t be the best choice for someone making a lot of them because I has a much smaller 20-ounce water tank. Also, as detailed above, the milk steaming, and frothing is pretty manual. What is the point of having single serve convenience and essentially manual milk frothing?

So, the Breville Creatista UNO has programs only for Ristretto, Espresso, Lungo and you need to do some work to make Cappuccino, Latte Macchiato and Flat white.

It also has the fewest programmable settings. It has just three milk temperature and three milk texture settings. This isn’t much but it probably enough for you to enjoy your drinks.

Otherwise the Breville Uno is an easy system to set up, use and clean. It comes with an assisted clean and descaling system.

Nespresso Creatista reviews

There are lots of great automatic espresso makers that will make excellent milk-based espresso drinks with one touch of a button. But they lack the convenience of the Nespresso pod systems.

Follow the link to read about the advantages of Nespresso vs Keurig. I am one of those who believes that 15 bar pump pressure, K-Cup machines, including Keurig K70 coffee maker, CHULUX and the Cuisinart Coffee Center machines are not really espresso makers. They are pressurized, coarse grained coffee makers. We can debate if their mechanism actually expresses the coffee, they do have 15 bar pups after all. But the product tastes like drip coffee.

The Nespresso Creatista by Breville and their Creatista UNO and Creatista Plus offer something great and unique and are the best single serve options around.

Criticisms of Pod and Capsule Systems

There are three main areas of criticism of all pod and capsule systems. All three are good arguments to opt for a bean to cup coffee maker or even a super automatic espresso machine.

The first is cost. Nespresso capsules are more expensive than K-Cup pods and both are a lot more expensive than ground coffee or bulk beans. This difference can be a lot. A shot of espresso from loose grounds or beans you grind yourself can be $.25-.35. These systems can be 2x to 3x the cost. This means over a year of daily drinks you could spend $150 – $220 more for convenience.

The second criticism is choice. With K-Cups a lot of companies have sprung up offering their own varieties, so choice increased. With Nespresso capsules the same thing has not happened yet. Over time you may get bored with the options. That is why I stopped using my Nespresso.

Finally there are environmental concerns. Pods and capsules use a lot more packaging. A pound of coffee is maybe 35 shots. Picture the size and packaging for that. Now picture 35 pods and capsules shipped to your home. It is a lot more packaging. Also, the pods use a mix of different types of materials and they are not easy to separate which makes them impractical for most local recycling programs.

If these concerns worry you, then a Nespresso Creatista may not be the way to go. Consider a really good coffee maker. We recommend our Breville vs Delonghi comparison. The two companies offer a lot of great options with a range of features and pricing levels.
